A Sky Full of Stars is a playful data visualization project dedicated to Coldplay. It visualizes their discography as a constellations. The data used are simple: the index of the song on the album and the duration of each song. These data are used to place the stars.
The first song of an album is at the top, the last one all the way at the bottom.
Other songs are placed in between, the distance between songs varies based on the number of songs on the album.
The duration of the song is used for the horizontal position of the stars:
shorter ones go left, longer ones go right.
Constellations originate from the vinyl releases of the albums.
Each side (A, B and sometimes C and D) form a constellation:
from the first song on the side to the last, connecting back to the first.
