Some facts are fun. Like this one:

Earth is about 5 kilometres closer to the sun in the middle of winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

Now that is interesting! During the coldest time of the year, the Earth is about 3.3% closer to the sun than it is in the summer.

It is something I did not expect. And it’s a very good excuse to make a little data visualisation. So here it is:
